Account structure guide

Personal vs Corporate Bank Accounts in Georgia

Choose the account that matches the legal owner of the funds and the real payment purpose. A convenient but incorrect structure creates avoidable KYC and transaction risk.

Personal account

A personal account is for an individual’s salary, savings, personal transfers, card spending and other activity accepted by the bank. Our in-person assistance fee is €200; remote personal assistance is €750.

Corporate account

A corporate account belongs to a company and requires company, director, shareholder, UBO, activity, contract and expected-turnover information. Opening a Georgian company does not guarantee its bank account.

How to choose

Ask who signs the contract, issues the invoice, owns the money and bears the tax obligation. Those answers normally point toward the appropriate account holder.

  • Do not route company revenue through a personal account merely for convenience
  • Disclose connected companies and beneficial owners
  • Match invoices and transfers to the declared activity
  • Plan payroll, merchant, card and FX needs before applying

KYC differences

Corporate KYC has more layers because the bank must understand both the people and the legal entity. Complex ownership, high-risk sectors or cross-border trade can require enhanced evidence.

Clear answers.
No promises.

Is a corporate account harder to open?+

It is usually more document-intensive. Difficulty depends on the company’s substance, ownership, activity, countries and expected payments.

Can a foreign company open in Georgia?+

A request may be considered, but eligibility and documentation are case-specific and subject to current policy.

Can one account serve both purposes?+

Mixing personal and company funds creates accounting, tax and KYC problems and may breach the bank’s terms.

Can BankAccount.ge guarantee approval?+

No. BankAccount.ge is an independent consultancy, not a bank. The bank alone applies its KYC policy and decides whether to approve an account or product.

Can requirements change after submission?+

Yes. A bank may request additional documents, explanations or an interview at any point, and its policies can change without notice.

Does a complete file guarantee success?+

No. Preparation improves clarity and avoids preventable gaps, but it does not remove the bank’s discretion or regulatory duties.
